There are two types of calamities. They are
I. NATURAL CALAMITIES
II. MANMADE CALAMITIES
How can you prevent loss of lives and properties from different
calamities?
The solutions to save your precious lives and properties from different
calamities are as below:
I NATURAL CALAMITIES: -
1. FLASH FLOODS: - When inside: if ordered to evacuate or if rising
water is threatening, leave immediately. Avoid small rivers or streams,
low spots, canyons, dry riverbeds, etc. These can turn into raging
floods in seconds. Do not try to walk through flowing water more
than ankle deep. Do not allow children to play around streams, drainage
ditches, viaducts, storm drains and other flooded areas. Do not
drive through flooded areas even if it looks shallow enough to cross.
The large majority of deaths from flash flooding happen when people
drive through flowing areas. One foot (less than a third of one
meter) deep of flowing water can displace 675 kilograms. Sixty centimeters
of water can easily carry most of the automobiles. Roadways concealed
by floodwaters may not be intact.
